School of Choice Information
Seat Availability and Forms will be available May 15th.

This notice is for parents who do not live in our school district but would like their kindergartner to attend.

Please take note of the following dates: May 15, 2025 through 3:00 pm June 13, 2025

This is the window for you to apply for School of Choice. It will be posted on our website the day before the window opens. (Please do not fill out early!) The application process is necessary to ensure your child has the best chance of becoming a future BlueJay. Once the window closes, acceptance/denial letters will be mailed out within a few days. 

If you have children in other grades that you would also like to attend Shepherd Public Schools, you will need to take notice to see if there are open seats in their grade. This will be posted on our website a few days before the window opens. (The grade that they will be in starting with the school year 25/26.) 

If you do not have access to a computer, you can come to Central Office, 258 W. Wright Ave, during our open hours and use our laptop. You will also need a good email address. The form requires you to enter your email address, you will then receive a verification email to that address. Once you verify your email address, I will get notice of your application. Please pay attention to your email address and that it is typed correctly, or I will not receive it.

Please Note:

Children who enroll with an address located on the west side of Isabella Rd, will attend Winn Elementary.  Children who enroll with an address located on the east side of Isabella Rd, will attend Shepherd Elementary. When applying for a school of choice seat, you are applying to attend Shepherd Public Schools. Your child will be assigned to the building dictated by your address. 

Two forms of proof of residency, showing one of the parent's name and address, are required at the time of enrollment: 

Michigan ID or Voter registration card

Mortgage, lease or rental agreement

Utility bill such as consumers or water

Property tax bill
